Event Invitation – Autism, Proud to Be Me

Proud To Be Me is back and will allow people who are Autistic (including those waiting for a diagnosis or self-identifying) to access information and advice from over 30 organisations.

The drop-in, free event will be held on Thursday 23 April at Oxford Park Community Sports Centre, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL7 0PW from 12pm-7pm.

It will feature a variety of informative marketplace stalls from a range of services, as well as fun activities and opportunities for attendees to share their thoughts on how support can be improved for people who are Autistic in Tameside.

Helpful organisations attending include Routes to Work, Tameside and Glossop Autism Assessment Team, Tameside Carers Centre, Thrive with JoJo, Tameside Arts, and Homes for All. Attendees can get involved in lots of optional activities, such as cooking, yoga, cycling, arts and crafts, and even visiting the pony patch.

There will be a sensory and breakout room to provide a quiet space available throughout the day, as well as health and wellbeing consultations on offer.

People of all ages, adults and children, who are Autistic (awaiting diagnosis and self-identifying), families and carers are encouraged to come along to:

  • Meet a variety of helpful organisations from across
    Tameside.
  • Get involved with conversations about belonging,
advocacy, employment and health to make Tameside
    more autism friendly.
  • If you want to, take part in fun activities such as yoga,
cooking, cycling, arts and crafts, and more.

If you would like to attend, please reply by email to: Giovanna Surico-Hassall (giovanna.surico-hassall@tameside.gov.uk) and Gary Schofield (gary.schofield@tameside.gov.uk)
