December’s SEND Youth Council meeting took place at Active Medlock in Droylsden, where seven inspiring young people and their families joined to discuss issues that directly affect them.
New members of the SEND Youth Council attended the meeting, and the group are keen to encourage more people to join and be a part of the ambitious plans for the future.
This session mainly focussed on the completion of the SEND survey for children and young people. The group discussed what young people’s initial thoughts were on the survey and how useful they found it. This generated some valuable conversations and gave the group lots of important feedback to take away around how they can ensure children and young people are at the heart of what they want to achieve.
The session also welcomed a member of the team from Tameside and Glossop Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) who briefly discussed their role, the work that is being done within their service and the available support that’s on offer.
