Reflection on EBSA Conference

On the 23rd September 2025 Tameside Educational Psychology Service hosted an ‘Emotional Barriers to School Attendance – Multiagency understanding and approaches’ Conference. The aim of this conference was to think about how to collectively support children and young people who feel too anxious to attend their school.

Speakers and attendees included local schools, the Child and Adult Mental Health Service (CAMHS), the Mental Health Support Team (MHST), the Attendance Team and Social Care.

The event hosted 65 people in person and online and the feedback has been very positive:

  • “Very informative, great delivery by key speakers.”
  • “(I enjoyed) finding out about different services perspectives”.
  • “Lovely to think about trauma and the role of relationships in EBSA”

A huge thank you to the whole team involved in organising this event, and the guest speakers. We are looking forward to the think about what we are all going to do next in order to support these vulnerable children and young people together.
