The Together Centre are creating a new group for adults (18+) on the autism spectrum and/or have a mental health diagnosis which will run every Wednesday form 11am until12:30pm at 287 Birch Lane Dukinfield SK16 5AU.
Karen Evans, Centre Manager at The Together Centre recently secured some funding to provide this group and she is a mother to a 26-year-old daughter who has autism and a serious mental heath diagnosis – understanding what others might be going through.
The group meet-up will take place in a space that’s always open and welcoming. People can come and go as they need. The group isn’t just about staying in one room – it’s also about gently encouraging people to step out and try new things at their own pace.
There’s a food pantry, a charity shop, an allotment, and plenty of activities to choose from. People can join in however they feel comfortable – and maybe volunteer when they’re ready.
The volunteer lead of the group, Diana Worthington, also has lots of experience with helping people whilst being a skilled therapist and writer.
They also eventually plan to give the group a name and even a logo which you can contribute to!
