Excitement awaits children and young people across Tameside this February half term as the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme launches its latest schedule. Families can enjoy a wide range of free sessions, with activities running at venues across the borough. Each booking includes a healthy, nutritious meal, so children can enjoy both fun and food.
Delivered by Tameside Council, the programme offers something for everyone – from sports and games to creative workshops. Dedicated SEND sessions will also run, featuring accessible activities tailored to the needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council have funded a number of providers through the central government funding HAF (Holiday Activity and Food Fund) to support children, young people and families throughout the holidays. The funding from the ‘Department of Education’ is given to allow us to support families on benefit-related free school meals (FSM) and those is crisis. Crisis entitlement is for those families who are not eligible for benefit FSM but as a professional you would consider them as at risk over the holiday period. Please be mindful we only have 15% entailment for crisis families, and these referrals must be completed by professionals after receiving confirmation from the council HAF team on eligibility. Further guidance on professional referrals attached. If you require further guidance on this, please email hafenquiries@tameside.gov.uk
