The holiday season is here, and there are some wonderful events and activities for families with SEND children across Tameside. From Christmas parties to relaxed coffee mornings and inclusive play sessions, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Take a look at what’s coming up and join in the festive spirit!

W.I.S.H End of Year Celebration- Reach for The Stars Party! For Families with SEND Children

PINS Tea & Toast Coffee Mornings – Supporting Neurodiverse Children Together

We’re delighted to invite parents and carers to our upcoming PINS (Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools) Tea & Toast Coffee Mornings, kindly facilitated by Tameside Umbrella Parent Carer Forum.

Where: Hurst Knoll Primary School

When: Wednesday 17th December,  9:00–10:30am

These relaxed and welcoming sessions offer a chance to:

  • Share experiences
  • Learn about support available in schools
  • Connect with other parents and carers
  • Have your voice heard

Their aim is to drive inclusivity forward in their schools, improve understanding of neurodiversity, and ensure every child feels supported and valued.

Mencap Family Engagement Project (MENCAP) are hosting a series of events and sessions for young people with SEND, along with their parents and carers.

HAF Events

Event Name: Believe in the Magic – A Christmas Celebration

This event is for children and young people Reception – Year 11 (SEND Specific Celebration) (Younger/older siblings may attend if sibling is in recipient of benefit related FSM and within the age range – applies for both events). 

  • Monday: A festive celebration featuring music, dancing, and fun activities for all ages. Guests will enjoy interactive games and meet beloved Christmas characters, including Father Christmas.
  • Tuesday: An inclusive Christmas celebration tailored for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. The event will feature music, dancing, and accessible activities for all abilities.

Tuesday 23rd December 5pm–7pm SEND Specific celebration

  • Free event – Must be in recipient of benefit related free school meals.
  • Must be booked in advance via EEQU
  • Guardians must attend with children

  • Christmas Characters: Santa, Jingles the Elf, Mrs Ginger Bread, Mrs Gingerbread, Elsa and Anna hosting Festive Games, Dancing, Singing and Christmas Story.
    • Father Christmas Meet & Greet: Opportunity for photos and memorable moments.
    • Gift for Every Child: Each child will receive a present from Santa.
    • Photo Opportunities: Festive backdrops for family pictures.
    • Buffet Provided: A delicious selection of food and refreshments.
