Tameside’s fresh approach to SEND improvement is all about maximising the life chances and opportunities for all children and young people in the borough. New Bridge Group offers high quality neuroaffirmative education with a real chance of meaningful futures for neurodivergent children and young people in Hawthorns School, Samuel Laycock School and Thomas Ashton School.
An unapologetic Autistic Executive Director of New Bridge Dr Shirley Woods-Gallagher has been campaigning on the Bee Neuroinclusive campaign with GM Mayor Andy Burnham to ensure those meaningful futures aren’t just about school getting neurodivergent young people work ready; an equal part is played by employers getting themselves neuroinclusion ready for people of all working ages.
The Bee Neuroinclusive Code of Best Practice is part of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter which has over 1500 employers signed up to its standards. The Charter work is quality assured in practice. The Bee Neuroinclusive Code via the Charter will open all many new employment routes for neurodivergent talent of all ages to thrive in any school setting once they leave into the world of work. The code can be freely downloaded here https://www.gmgoodemploymentcharter.co.uk/media/2761/5443gmgec_bee_neuro-inclusive_code_of_practice_guide_digital_v2.pdf
Shirley said: “It was a real pleasure to see Tameside Council’s lead for their neurodivergent staff group who also works in supported employment at the launch of Bee Neuroinclusive on 10th October. We do our best work together as system leaders.”
